Many people ask me about the best time to get an ADHD evaluation if they are a student or if their child is a student. At this time of the year, getting an ADHD evaluation is important to get you or your child ready for the next school year. Here are the three main reasons:

Reason 1 – Get teacher input before they go on summer vacation

Getting input from teachers is important for an evaluation. But teachers go on summer vacation too. Making sure to get input from your or your child’s teachers before they go on summer vacation can only strengthen your ADHD evaluation.

Reason 2 – Flexibility

School schedules can be overwhelming. When school is over, you have more flexibility in your schedule to find the time for an assessment. Also, your mind will be a bit more settled and you can fully engage in an ADHD evaluation so that we can make the best evaluation.

Reason 3 – Preparing for the next school year

Doing an evaluation before you kick back for the summer, will allow you to be ready with your results when a teacher or school administrator contacts you with information about the next school year. You’ll be able to provide them the results from your or your child’s assessment and to help them prepare for you or your child next year.
